1887 First Movie Film ever Made
Eastman Dry Plate and Film Company in Rochester, New York, begins manufacturing the first movie film on this day in 1885. The company was the first to produce, manufacture, and market reels of continuous film.
1936 This is Telescope Day because.....
On this day in 1936, the first telescope with a 200-inch-diameter, reflecting mirror was shipped -- very, very carefully -- from Corning, New York to Mt. Palomar Observatory in California. The lens of the Hale telescope weighed 20 tons. It was dedicated at Mt. Palomar in 1948.
1970 Woodstock Movie Premeires
The classic documentary Woodstock, showing the 1969 concert that drew half a million people and kicked off the "Summer of Love," premieres. The film won an Oscar for Best Documentary.

The Ford Escort was named the best-selling car in the world for the third year in a row. The Escort was the result of Ford's attempt to design a "world car," a car that could be sold with minor variations all over the world.

I had an Escort -worst piece of crap-got it brand new-off the showroon floor-hated that damn thing...Woodstock-I was never into that flower-child smoke the dope scene...and thank-you Mr. Eastman--you've come a long way -baby.............

I had a 1990 ford escort pony a 1.9 liter ran great had over 150,000 miles on it before i got rid of it had it for 13 years
I have a little Escort for my "farm" car...it's bomb proof!! I'm happy they have managed to bring the weight of the telescope down...it would be a little hard to tote a 20 tonner around to look at the stars, LOL. Did you go to Woodstock? My mom went too ~ maybe you guys had a drink (or something) together!!!! ;)

My cousin's mom wouldn't let her and her sister get the polio vac. The sis snuck out and got it...the other one didn't and got Polio. Spent her life in a wheelchair. So sad. It finally did her in 4 years ago. She was in her 50's.
