     1974  Aaron Sets new Home Run Record

On this day in 1974, Hank Aaron of the Atlanta Braves hits his 715th career home run, breaking Babe Ruth's legendary record of 714 homers. A crowd of 53,775 people, the largest in the history of Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, was with Aaron that night to cheer when he hit a 4th inning pitch off the Los Angeles Dodgers' Al Downing.

 

1873  Alfred Paraf of New York City Patented the First successful Oleomargarine.  *Yummooo :  P

 

1904  Britain and France Sign Entente Cordiale

On this day in 1904, with war in Europe a decade away, Britain and France sign an agreement, later known as the Entente Cordiale, resolving long-standing colonial disputes in North Africa and establishing a diplomatic understanding between the two countries.

 

1935  FDR Signs Emergency Relief Appropriation Act

President Franklin D. Roosevelt authorizes almost $5 million to implement work-relief programs on this day in 1935. Hoping to lift the country out of the crippling Great Depression, Congress allowed the president to use the funds at his discretion.

 

1968  The Beatles went Gold Again, receiving a gold record for the single, Lady Madonna.

 

1969  The Montreal Expos and the New York Mets played in Shea Stadium in New York in the First International Baseball Game in the Major Leagues.

 

1971  Chicago, First Rock Group to play CarnegieHall in New York City.

 

1985  Comedienne Phyllis Diller underwent a surgical procedure for permanent eye liner to eliminate the need for eyelid makeup. Must have been a real sloooow day over at Phyllis’ house.   *I've had it dome ~ No big deal :  )

 

1994  Nirvana's Kurt Cobain is Found Dead at 27

Kurt Cobain, lead singer of the rock band Nirvana, is found dead three days after committing suicide in his Seattle home. His death launched a world-wide outpouring of grief among millions of Nirvana fans. Cobain's "grunge" band transformed rock music in the early 1990s and, although he did not accept the title, Cobain himself was considered the spokesperson for "Generation X."

Huh so Kurt Cobain died today and it's Julian Lennon's birthday and Let It Be was in the charts...........I like the idea of the permanent eyeliner though seeing as how I am crap at applying it lol

I didn't know Phyllis Diller had the permanent eyeliner and I don't know why it struck me as odd since she was kind of wacky!  I remember went Hank aaron broke Babes record and i also really remember when Kurt died.  I really liked him.
