Me and my BOB

Since Wednesday I haven't been feeling so good.  I took a pill that was the generic equivalent to "Correctal" at noon.  By 3 I 'd swear my GI tract was clean : /  Then at I was to drink this stuff called "Half Go-lytely".   The previous night I took the 1/2 gallon jug they gave me, added a packet of flavoring, water and put it in the refrigerator overnight.  At 8 pm Wednesday I was suppose to drink 8 oz every 15 minutes until gone.  The problem....I  didn't realize it had Saccharin in it and I'm allergic to the stuff.  I did manage to get 5 glasses of it down.  I did start drinking it early so that I wouldn't be up all night running to the 'twilight'.

Thursday morning I was afraid it wasn't enough.  My friend Sandy dropped me off  at the Countryside Hospital Surgical Center 2 hours before my test was scheduled.  I have Raynauds' Phenomenon which makes it difficult for IV needles to be inserted.  OH, they are so good at this hospital.  The nurses in the Surgical Center always listen to me, wrap my arms in warm blankets, wait 5 minutes, then slip that sucker in my right hand!  Today it's there is not a hematoma, not sore, not bruised.  In fact I can't even see the needle mark.

Next I was drugged, Versed.  The nurse said it was like Valium although  I didn't feel any better or any worse.  I'm not a particularly anxious person anyways so I just sat as by this time it was noon and most of the patients had gone home and the nurses to lunch.   I do this thing where I close my eyes and because people think I am sleeping I did get to listen to some juicy hospital gossip.  Learned this trick when my kids were teenagers where I'd always carry a book with me.  Open it read.  Many times my kids would think I'd be engrossed in the book when in fact I was listening to them talk with their friends.  It's a much better way of getting to the meat of the matter than 'asking' and getting un-truths.

Finally my 2 wonderful nurses came to wheel me to "THE ROOM".  HOLY SHIT, Are all these people going to be looking at my BOB?
i.e. my big 'Ol butt

I remember looking at the screen with my name on it, the equipment.  Those tricky nurses must have pushed some medication in my IV because next I was waking up being wheeled into post-op.

A few minutes later the doctor appeared  He was pleased (with himself I think), and after he told me I had 3 Gastric ulcers, gastritis, & adhesions from previous surgeries, HE actually said "Good Show" ! HUH?!

The biopsies for Celiac disease will be available in a week.  I am to take Prolisec for the ulcer, eat yogurt.  AND schedule a CAT scan.  I'm not sure for what so I'll call the doctors office tomorrow.  And follow up with the Butt Doc in 2 months.  I hope my tummy feels better by then.  And oh he gave me pics : )

OMG~ON THE NEWS!  Deborah Palfry, i.e. the D.C. Madam, hung herself less than a 2 miles from my place!  Hmmmm?  Hung herself in a shed adjacent to her mother's trailer and was found shortly after 1 pm today.  Sandy and I drove by the area in Tarpon Springs about that time today.

Oh, 'Pork Man' is tall thin side good looking and not a porker at all.  Has 2 daughters in their mid-20's, divorced 9 yrs, coordinates computer-telephone communications for at the Sheraton on Sand Key (the Key south of Clearwater Beach).  Was in Iraq last year for 3 months asa civilian setting up computer communications.
And is a former Air Force man.

I'm glad you've got that behind you.....hahaha, still cracking myself up!! ;)

Anyhoo, as I said, hopefully you will ask your doctor about Phospho-soda next time. It still tastes crappy, but it's not that sickening sweet Go-lytely taste and you don't have to drink as much of it.

Have a great weekend, Bethe - hope you're feeling better soon!!

Hugs,
Carol

Oh I know what you are talking about with the IV deal - my veins roll away and they can never get them in.  Now they go right for the inside of my elbow and don't even bother with the hand.  That versed is good stuff...I've had that and never remembered anything.  I have a friend who has celiac, I hope all the changes they've mentioned help you out.
