Waaahoooo....I've got High Speed Internet!!
I didn't have dial up before, but close to it ~ A Sprint Air Card. Because I travel quite a bit, I wanted an option "on the road". well, I've scrapped that idea and even though this is what this called "Broadband Light", it is still 50 times faster than the Air Card.

Thank you everyone for all your well wishes for Mama Snowbird. Apparently the Dr had put her on IV prednisone to decrease the inflammation of her lungs. This along with antibiotics and respiratoty treatments helped tremendously. By Wednesday morning she was only on oxygen as needed and was discharged from the hospital Thursday afternoon. She said she is still sick and I had to remind her that a cold will last 7-10 days.
My guess would be she was bored being indoors and that she was at Walmart today.
To answer Connie's question as to what Arterial Blood Gas are ~ ABG's are ordered to measure the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the blood and check the PH. It's most commonly done with people in Congestive Heart Failure, Asthma, COPD ie. Coronary Obstructive Pulmonary Disease caused mostly by emphysema due to smoking.
The test itself is most commonly done by a Respiratory Therapist. An insulin needle is inserted on the inside of the arm, just above the wrist. If you look at the inside of your wrist you can see a tangle of vein. If you feel the area, you can feel a pulsing. The pulsing is not the blood flowing through the veins, but rather the artery located between the bones of the wrist and the veins. That is where the RT will insert the needle. A sensitive area. Given the reasons for doing this test is to determine the efficiency of the lungs and the treatment, a patient who is not getting enough oxygen feels so poorly, the test is usually the least of their worries.

Now on the lighter side~
Breaking Bad is the name of the new series on the American Movie Channel (AMC) that my son & I watched last weekend.
Here is a little info off the web site....
Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher sleepwalking through life when, boom, a terminal diagnosis changes everything. Liberates him. Empowers him to use his chemistry skills anew: to man a rolling drug lab and finance the future for his struggling family. It's an uncontrolled experiment with the American dream. And it finally wakes him up.
The series premiered Sunday, January 20 @ 10PM | 9C.
The 5th episode in the serries will be on Sunday. I found with the information above I could follow the story line easily.

Anna Gunn - Skyler White

I'm glad to hear your mom is coming along - I wish her the best. Congrats on your broadband, when we got ours I was surprised at how much patience I had while using dial up all those years!

I have "slow" broadband but it sure beats anything else. I never heard of a sprint air card. Yikes, so many people are so ill this winter. I'll keep Mama Snowbird in my prayers. HUGS Chris
I am so glad to hear all is well with Mama!!
Don't ya just love high speed?!?
Gillie
Glad that Mama Snowbird is feeling better and on the road to recovery. YES! Isnt high speed the BEST! I LOVE IT! Glad you were able to get it and enjoy it too. :)
Hi...I'm very late to this. Glad to hear she's on the mend...sorry I wasn't here sooner to send hugs and prayers. Hehehe...you tickled me on the high speed internet...goose. I'm not much of a television watcher, but occasionally, I DO get hooked on something. I LOVE HOUSE. I watched a couple of the early episodes (when it first came out). I just recently rented the whole seasons DVDs from Blockbuster. I think that's how I'll be enjoying that sort of thing from now on. It makes sense (efficiency) to watch them all at once...with no interruption (commercials, etc). Anyway...I adore his character! ;) C.
