On May 12, I did my 'History In a Nutshell' daily entry.
On that date in 1812 Edward Lear was born.
He was the poet who mastered the limerick and wrote the book, "Edward Lear's Book of Nonsense", which helped the limerick become extremely popular and is the only fixed verse indigenous to the English language.
The entry finished with: Write a limerick today!
Here’s one to get you started:
There once was a man named Nation,
Who worked for a radio station.
Although he was tall,
His hands were too small,
Wee paws for station identification.
That day Connie (Specialadyfink) wrote in my comments;
"There once was a granny named Connie
She had a friend named Bonnie
Connie had a cat that was amazingly fat
Bonnie had a one too,can you imagine that"
To Connie I replied....
She wrote back....
Me....
Her to me....
Me to her....
Connie again ....
After my BYE BYE SNOWBIRDIES entry the other day about how the SnowBirds give me the remnants of their refrigerators before leaving for they leave Florida for the summer. I received several suggestions as what to do Mayonnaise, pickles, 11 bottles of salad dressing, 8 bottles Ketchup, and many more jars of mustard and the oddest recieve of all, a Cornish Game Hen.
Which sparked more prose from my specialadyfink:
SnowBird-SnowBird
Fly away home
Leave my lil friend Bethe pleasantly alone
Give her yer leftovers as you will
Give her Mayo and Pickles to chill
Invite over Scott, Fire up the grill
It's Tater Salad and Cornish Hens
for dinner again........
I Emailed Connie saying.....
You are sooooo funny!! Did you know I kept all those Limericks we had going the other day? I was thinking of posting them, just for fun. I'm going to look them over first--maybe we aren't as good as I thought. It was fun though! Hugs, Bethe
AND don't you know she wrote back....
Great minds think alike I saved them too and thought about
posting them, LOL- So hey let's be creative and both post them!

And in the words of my certifiable friend, Connie....
So there ya are-it's official

Love "hearing" your conversations! BTW, it sounds as if the only thing the snow birds forgot to give you was a Partridge in a Pear Tree.
